Watchmen begins with a boy watching a movie in a theater. Right outside the
doors though is a group of people from the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) attacking
innocent civilians. These attacks are taking place in 1912, which I think may
come up again later in the show. You’re immersed in the chaotic frenzy and a
young family tries to find a way to get their child to safety away from the
attacks. I felt this scene set the tone for what’s to come for the rest of the
We’re then brought to present time, 2019, where we still see attacks
happening to innocent people. What’s different though is the hoods are no
longer being used like in the KKK; this group is now using rorschach masks to
cover their faces. Those who oppose this hate group also cover a portion of
their faces because the rorschachs attack innocent people if they find out who
they are, which includes their families.

We get to see this group forming an uprising, as we saw in the trailers.
This brings the year 1912 back as I think the hate group might try to openly
attack innocent people again. We do see one hero shine, played by Regina King,
in this episode as she investigates the group. I hope we get to see more of her
back story because she played a big role in the first episode. There is a lot
of mystery behind her and we got to see her fight. The first couple of
questions I had were where did she learn to fight? Did someone train her? I
hope these questions and more will be answered as the season progresses.
Overall, I thought this was a great start for the show. The action sequences
were good overall. I thought the acting was great all around and it was shot
well. I found myself asking so many questions after the first episode and I’m
looking forward to the second episode to see if any of these questions are
answered and what further develops with the hate group.
Have you seen the episode? What did you think of it? What are you looking forward to most from the show? Let me know in the comments below!
