Movie Monday: Christopher Robin

A heartwarming movie about a boy who has grown up and living the adult life. The movie starts out with Christopher Robin as a boy and he was having a party with his animal friends, including Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo, and more. The party was for Christopher Robin because he was leaving for a school. We see a quick time lapse and then we see Christopher all grown up, played by Ewan McGregor. Later, we see Winnie the Pooh in the forest where he is going about his day, but then he is unable to find any of his friends. Pooh seeks the aid of a now grown up Christopher Robin.

I absolutely loved this film. The voice acting by Jim Cummings is brilliant. As soon as I heard Pooh the first time in the movie, I felt like I was a kid again. The party was a nostalgic trip with all of the personalities sitting around the table. Ewan McGregor was great too. I would have never guessed Ewan was talking to, and at times carrying, inanimate objects. Winnie the Pooh and his friends looked good the way they were animated. The only issue I had was the way Tigger looked. It was hard to see his stripes, but I thought the other characters came out great.

Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore were the main focal points of this movie. Owl, Kanga, Roo, and the others became side characters. I would’ve liked to see more from them, but the main characters were enjoyable to watch. Eeyore had me laughing when he came on the screen every time.

Overall, I enjoyed this film. I felt like the plot about what was happening in Robin’s adult life fell short, I couldn’t get enough of Pooh and the rest of the group. Christopher Robin is a good movie for kids and adults alike. It reminded me of the live action Jungle Book movie when it came to the animations. The animations were solid overall and the acting was great.

Final score: 8/10
